Rising Tide of Dementia: Experts to Reveal Economic and Social Costs

On Wednesday, January 13, 2010, David Cork and Heather Menzies will be the speakers at the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County’s seminar “STOP The Rising Tide of Dementia: Experts to Reveal Economic and Social Costs” from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Hellenic Banquet Centre at 1315 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa. The focus of the seminar will be the release of the pivotal study Rising Tide: The Impact of Dementia on Canadian Society undertaken by the Alzheimer Society of Canada in conjunction with RiskAnalytica. Seminar registration fee of $20 includes continental breakfast. Call 613-523-4004 to pre-register.

This study will, for the first time since 1991, provide new startling information on the growing economic impact of dementia in Canada. It will also outline a series of potential intervention strategies that could help reduce the number of people affected by dementia, if our governments were to invest in the right solutions. This seminar will be of interest to baby boomers, general public, individuals with dementia and their families, health care professionals, seniors’ groups, and planners.
